Seddon Plant & Engineers Ltd bids farewell to Phil Winnington, a long-standing leader who has dedicated his career to supplying and developing the ever-evolving hire industry.
Phil's journey began unconventionally, starting in the food and drinks retail sector. But in 1996, he made a pivotal shift, joining us as our Sales & Marketing Manager. This marked the start of an incredible tenure that saw Phil rise to the role of Sales & Marketing Director.
His time at Seddon Plant & Engineers Ltd coincided with a period of significant growth for both the company and the hire industry as a whole. Phil's strategic vision was instrumental in transforming the company into a multi-brand dealership, allowing us to stand out to national players like HSS and A-Plant (now Sunbelt Rentals).
Phil's dedication went beyond the Seddon walls. He cherished the camaraderie within the industry, working alongside the "dynamic characters and dedicated professionals" who make it thrive. Notably, Phil played a key role in shaping the inaugural Executive Hire Show in 2006, an event that continues to be a cornerstone for the industry today.
In 2011, Phil broadened his horizons, taking on the role of MD at Morris Site Machinery. Here, he oversaw popular brands like ArcGen and Hilta, before transitioning to International Business Director, leading post-Brexit export efforts.
Now, as Phil sets sail for a well-deserved retirement, his remarkable career culminates at Winget. This leading manufacturer of concrete mixers and durable construction equipment, a sister company of Seddon Plant & Engineers Ltd, becomes the final chapter in Phil's impressive journey. His return to the Seddon fold, most recently as the Managing Director of Winget, signifies the indelible mark he's left on the company throughout his years of service.
